Jacob Wachira Ezigbo In-School Residency

Jacob Wachira Ezigbo In-School Residency
IFCC
Feb. 02 - April 24
2 week residency available per classroom

Please call 503–823-4322 for more information.

This painting came from a workshop in Kenya, in which the students were asked to depict their “Dreams and Aspirations”.

Working with Jacob Wachira Ezigbo, IFCC’s 2008–2009 artist in residence from Kenya, IFCC will provide this outreach to neighborhood schools in 2 week in-school workshops for students in fourth to eighth grade. The goal of each 2 week session will include each child producing one individual painting, and one group painting created in collaboration with at least 10 other students. Students will work with themes of community, individual versus the whole, and questions of civic responsibility in order to promote self-expression, leadership and teamwork.

Jacob Wachira Ezigbo is a world-renowed Kenyan artist and founder of a neighborhood children’s arts center in Mathare, Nairobi.

His art work will be featured in IFCC‘s Gallery exhibit Facets of Africa January 29-February 21.

This residency is supported in part by
