The Do North Gala is a Neighborhood Arts Celebration that honors artists residing or working in N/NE Portland along with Creative Leaders who helped build our historical community foundation. The inspiration for Do North is “Racing Forward into our Future”. Artists are invited to explore the enormous challenges and opportunities that this community has faced and is still facing as we go forward into the future. Art work will be evaluated by the IFCC Programming Committee, Staff and Board of Director’s as well as the public. After a wonderful reception and performance several awards will be given including two life time achievements awards. This is an “all ages/family event”.

The Awards Ceremony is in the theatre at 7pm and requires a reservation/invitation.

The IFCC Do North exhibit will be open from 6pm-9pm for viewing.

A true treasure of the North West, Thara’s musical style spans classical and all jazz forms. He has long been a strong advocate and provider of inspired, accessible music education. Trumpet player Farnell Newton will be presenting the award and brief musical tribute.

His award will be presented by his former student and the IFCC DO North guest curator Mo.

Crazy 8’s to Perform at IFCC Homecoming

Imagine being in charge of entertainment for your homecoming dance in 1982. You would probably have to get some lame DJ or maybe that guy who used to be a senior like three times and now he has a band. OK, that’s the nightmare now imagine the dream. You would want a band that was hot. All around hot. Great music that was jumpin’ with lots of horns and guitars and like, two drummers. And they were so hot the girls would go crazy but the band was cool enough that even the guys would be like, dude… they rock! That dream is now a reality! Portland’s hottest band from the 80’s is playing your homecoming! I just booked the Crazy 8’s!!! (insert fan scream here and read more . . .)
