Meet the Artist
F.X Rosica is a visual artist form Portland, Oregon, who has attended universities in New York, West Virginia and Michigan. Most recently, FX has pursued the visual arts full time by studying a variety of media with several internationally known artists located in the Pacific Northwest. While his subject matter is varied his most compelling subjects are inspired while riding on public transportation, during plein air painting and figure drawing, and while working with a local painting group that uses intergenerational models living in local retirement homes.
Active with Print Arts NW, Gallery 114, The Portland Art Museum, The Portland Art Museum Rental and Sales Gallery, and the Kyoto International Wood Print Association, F.X. also performs volunteer work at community organizations including: The Oregon Community Foundation, the Conference Project, and has served in the Peace Corps in Mali, West Africa.
Recent honors for his work include selection in the All-Oregon Art Annual in Salem and featured work at The Kyoto International Wood Print Show and Gallery 114 in Portland.
IFCC is especially proud of F.X.’s determination and grace when his work was stolen weeks before opening this show. After a full year of development and creation, F.X. finished a long day of printing, secured his new work and equipment in the back of his car and settled into an early dinner with family in SW Portland. Upon retuning to his car he found the window shattered and his year of love and labor gone along with tools and the copper plates used to make his prints. Several news stations and papers were kind enough to share his story and through the encouragement and support of family and local artists F.X was able to rally and in a very short time put together the show you see today. This speaks to not only his resilience but the depth of creativity that lies within this fine artist. IFCC congratulates him on his first solo show.
If you would like to find out more about our artist please join him for tea at the IFCC, Saturday July 12 at 1:00pm.
