Philemon Reid passes

It is with a sad heart that I let you know of the passing of one of our dear IFCC family members. Artist Philemon Reid passed this morning.

I feel very lucky to have met him. This spring he received a long over due award for Artistic Achievement at IFCC’s Do North Celebration. His work graces many walls here at the IFCC and as I told him that night, he was an inspiration and a comfort to me when I began curating the IFCC Gallery in 2005. Each piece of his became a guide, a friend and an inspiration for my work here. Our Dance studio is filled exclusively with Mr. Reid’s work. Every week children are surrounded by his images of civic leaders large and small. I cannot think of a better, constant message to our youth.

IFCC will miss Mr. Reid dearly. We are blessed to be watched over by his images. Through this he will continue to inspire us all.
